07MarElizabeth ♥ Thomas – Excitement and anticipation
Fotograferet af No Eye Has Seen

It’s been hard for me to decide how to begin our wedding recap. Those of you who have followed the blog for a long time know that we were actually already formally married on the 11th of September at a civil ceremony in Frederiksberg town hall. This was celebrated only with the closest family members, and was documented in a little music video.
A week later, it was time for the blessing, “the big wedding”, and this is what I’ll be recapping for you in the next posts, illustrated with pictures taken by No Eye Has Seen.
But one place to begin is the morning – the wondrous time where I was transformed from girlfriend to brude, where the air was jittery with excitement… all these moments and details which had been planned for months… happening in just a moment… just a minute… just a second… NOW! To see it all coming together into one – makeup and hair; the dress, which had gotten the last fitting just a couple of days before, the fascinator, the shoes, the jewelry which was decided on at the very last moment. Almost magically, it all just worked together. I had never felt more beautiful, and even today I can’t understand that the girl in the pictures is me.
I changed at my parents’ house who lived just next to the church, while Thomas had spent the night at his best man’s house.

Let’s talk a little about the dress, shall we? I think we should :) The beautiful dress with pretty lace and delicate ruching is from Blue by Enzoani, model Casablanca. The dress was beautiful in itself, but I chose to have straps added to give it a little twist. The beautiful hair and makeup was styled by my hairdresser through many, many years, Leslie from Frisør Jenny. She was the only person I could even imagine to be in charge of my hair – the only one I felt 100% sure would understand my style and style it to perfection… Even though we hadn’t had the chance to a hair tryout because of illness.

I knew from the start that I wanted my wedding shoes to be Dannie by Pedro Garcia when I first saw them. I knew that I didn’t want white or cream coloured shoes, that they should be alittle different and rustic looking, yet elegang. In many ways, they remind me of our wedding invitations: charcoal grey with frayed edges, simple and appropriately elegant. I searched all over Copenhagen and on the web, but had to realise that they had been discontinued… until I found them at Galeries LaFayette during our summer holidays in Paris – I was so happy when I saw them, and bought them right on the spot!
I’m usually a simple girl, and the dress was already very extravagant, at least for me – so the jewelry remained simple. I knew that I would be wearing my wedding ring, and it was a no-brainer that I would wear the necklace which I had received from my husband on my very first birthday together with him, and which I had worn ever since. The earrings were a last minute addition, found in the seamstress’ boutique – in simple drop-shaped glass. They were perfect together with the dress and the necklace, and was the perfect final detail.
I made the hairpiece myself: two organza flowers with mother of pearl in the center. I had actually brought a veil too, when I arrived at the hairdresser’s, but decided at the last moment not to wear it as it would be a pity to cover her beautiful work.
I especially looked forward to wearing the knitted shrug – it was warm and autumny and cozy, and was also worn together with the Elefteria dress I had worn at the civil ceremony a week earlier.
The mornign flew by; hairdresser, makeup, dressing up, transport and the last decoration on the cake which my mum had worked on over a few days beforehand; maybe because of the time, maybe because of the anticipation, I only managed a small bite to eat before the car arrived; my sister and mum had left for the church beforehand, while I sat with my dad and the photographers in the Pontiac, on our way to the big moment.
