Time To Move On

Category: About the blog   |   Author: Elizabeth   |   21 comments No colors

Dear all,

This post is at the same time easy and difficult to write. Easy, because I know it’s the right thing to do, but hard because I get so emotional doing it. Writing this post is like handing in my job resignation, even though I have really, thoroughly enjoyed my job, my colleagues and my position. It’s just that inside me there’s been a voice for a while, and it’s been growing louder and louder and louder, telling me this: It’s time for me to move onto new projects, challenges and opportunities.

The other evening I was out with my husband, talking about how life has turned upside down, entering a brand new phase in life where I will be juggling a new position, a baby and everyday life. I have already learnt how precious time is, and now even more than ever before, I want to make every single minute count. I have so many projects in my head that I have been wanting to work on for almost as long as I’ve had Pretty Chic Blog, and I have made the final decision: now is the time that I wrap up my blog and start focusing on new ventures.

This blog has documented quite a journey – I started off writing in Danish, collecting scraps, images, ideas from foreign sources  to bring to the Danish public (see my first post here from June 2009). Then, as I felt that the industry was maturing, I decided to turn it upside down, blogging in English and wanting to show that we in Scandinavia are able to live up to the beautiful design culture that we are known for – in weddings, too.

What will I be using my time on? Yes, I have a baby and a job and everyday life. But one thing is absolutely for sure: I can’t bear to leave the wedding world :) And I have a clear idea in my head – it’s bubbling and boiling, and I can’t wait for it to become reality. It will take a lot of work, but I know for sure it will happen. For now, I ask you all to be patient. I promise to keep you updated on this blog about my new (ad)ventures once I have something more tangible to show for them.

In the meantime, do feel free to browse the archives of Real Weddings, photoshoots, DIYs and little details that give your wedding that personal twist.

Thanks, everyone, for 3 fantastic years. Have a great summer!

  8. Oh my dear dear inspirational friend.

Elizabeth, when you first came by my studio I thought it was a dream. For many years I have been a wedding photographer trying to do things away from the traditional. When I met you and got introduced to your blog, I found hope. Hope that there was also people in Denmark who wanted to change the view on Danish weddings. I needed some change and I think many of us did. You where the first one that I have met that dared to talk about this change and you made it happen. By inspiring brides and photographers to think different and making them want to do their weddings more personal. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Another thing I want you to thank you about, is for introducing me to all the lovely people in the wedding industry that I have met through you .. WOuw girl! you are special .. and ok, I understand you want to try out new things and all, but man .. I AM GOING TO MISS THIS BLOG!!! not you, cos I demand we keep in touch ;-)

Nooooooo…. lige nu hvor jeg endelig er blevet friet til og nu kan få lov til at udleve min egne bryllupsdrømme :( Men jeg vil nyde at kigge tilbage i dine arkiver. Held og lykke med alt fremover!

Hwy Elizabeth, I completely understand how you feel now as i am in a similar position. But if this is what is right for you at the moment embrace your decision and move on to new project with the passion, dedication and taste that you have shown us for these three years! best of luck to you and your family!

  11. Dear Elizabeth.

Big decision! I am saddened on behalf of all your followers out there. Like the other commenters I think you will be greatly missed in the Danish wedding scene – as you already know I totally agree with Amanda Thomsen when she says we need some change.

Personally, however, I must admit I was waiting for this since the moment I learned you were pregnant :)
Speaking from personal experience, you get tons of new ideas – as well as new priorities – once you have that baby… So I never expected you to hang around here for much longer :)

I will congratulate you on your insight to know when to stop and on your big courage to move on. That is something truly worth admiring, too!

Lots of love – and we’ll keep in touch, right :)
You know you are always welcome to join in on a project one day if you are up for it – especially as I never mustered up to join in on yours…ahem :)

Wow, I totally understand your decision and I am very curious as to what you have planned next, but it’s so sad to see you leave this blog!!!

You have been an incredible inspiration to me, you were the very first person ever to comment on my blog and you are the reason I have decided to switch to English and broaden my focus – I have been working on a new blog which will be launched next week. So basically the same time you decide to leave….life is weird.
If I am just half as successful and inspiring to brides as you were, I am happy.

Wishing you all the best for your new journey,

Oh, I just saw this post! That must have been one big decision to make. I look forward to see what you’ll come up with – but I know life is busy with both work and baby!

  14. Dear Elizabeth,

Just got back from vacation and I saw this post! I will dearly miss your blog as I enjoyed every single post on Pretty Chic blog- so it makes me a little sad to think that I won’t get to read them anymore. But I am so happy that you decided to to what’s right for you in order to move on to your other dreams and projects. I have no doubt that what you come with will be amazing, and I can’t wait to hear more about it!! And as always, know that you can count on me if you ever need my help in any way :)

    Big hugs,
