Do you ever wonder what a wedding photographer’s own wedding looks like? Well, here’s one which will have you drooling. Such an elegant and at the same time delightfully playful wedding with bright, fun details. To start: the lovely attire of the bride, Lisa. A short dress with a black sash and a bow at the waist, dotted tulle and headpiece and a bold, yellow bracelet. The groom wore yellow suspenders and a boutonniere of yellow craspedia – oh, and a bow-tie, together with a dotted pocket handkerchief. Don’t you just love their custom, white Converse All Stars with their personal phrase printed on – Du Och Jag (You And I)? Not to forget the lovely bikes used for the fun portrait session!

The joy in these next shots is just contagious, don’t you think?

“When we decided to get married the most important thing about our wedding day was that it had to be relaxed and alot of fun! These thoughts followed us throughout the planning. The venue, Linneaträdgården is a bit rugged, but with alot of charm, perfect for a relaxed wedding. We wanted our guests to instantly feel that this was not a formal wedding so we put most traditions aside.

Lisa spent a lot of time (but not a lot of money!) picking out about 50 vintage vases, which her mother filled with flowers on the wedding day. Lisas sister is an amazing designer and did the illustrations for our invitations and paperwork in form of a beautiful detailed tree. For the invitation she placed a garland with our names between two trees and then we just incorporated that in the décor. Otherwise, we tried to keep it simple and letting the greenhouse-feel be most important.

Of course the colour yellow was our signature colour. The dots was not intended as a theme from the beginning but when Lisa had bought her dress with the dotted tulle we just found ourselves finding more and more dotted accessories (Simons socks and handkerchief). Even the flowers (the Billy Buttons) fit that theme!

The phrase “Du & Jag” means You and Me in Swedish and it’s a phrase that has been following us around for a long time. We decided to engrave “Du & Jag” in our engagement-rings. So when it came to customize the Converse’s we knew instantly what the heelstripe should say!

We met in school at age 15 and some months later we became a couple. Simon proposed to Lisa at home by the kitchen table by going down on one knee. We got married two years later. We have been together almost ten years now and we are expecting our first child in June, we’re super-excited!”

Congratulations, Lisa and Simon – not only for the wedding, but for the upcoming parenthood too! You’ll be the coolest and funnest parents in town :)

Magdalena named her little boutique after her grandmother, Eira, who was a seamstress in Gothenburg. There is something so lovely and vintage-inspired about the handmade hair flowers, reflecting a passion for fabrics, feminine forms and colours – just like Eira had.

You might recognise the flowers from this vintage candy inspired shoot which was featured on this blog last year. Magdalenas flowers are now available online on Eiras Blomma’s website, and the first collection is named after the lovely characters in A Room With a View. Do check out the pretty headpieces and brooches, there will most definitely be one that suits your dress :)

I don’t feature many engagement shoots on this blog, but this one is so fun and in style with what this blog is about that I couldn’t resist! I love the colours, the imagery, the fun and the quirkiness which these pictures exude. Oh, and the couple took the pictures themselves!

Lena, who submitted the pictures explains:

“My name is Lena and I am an American girl filled with Scandinavian heritage. I am currently living in Stockholm and run my own little photography business. My work as a whole is inspired by Scandinavian culture and lifestyle. The shoot I am sending you is actually a self-shot, self-edited shoot I did with my fiance. His name is Nils and he is Norwegian. I’m so pleased to introduce to you one of my new January sponsors – Photographer Camilla Jørvad. So: yes, I know – we’ve already seen dessert tables with delectable cakes and lots and lots of candy. Now that businesses are popping up offering this specifically (Candy Queen to name one), this will continue for sure… but we will also see spin-offs by creative brides who have a different specialty in mind. My husband, for instance, is an ice-cream fan – so a beautifully styled ice cream bar would have been totally up his ally. How about a Martini bar or a champagne bar? Or perhaps a coffee bar, complete with a barista, numerous coffee beans to choose from and a huge selection of chocolate spoons, sirups and sprinkles?

Orange is a fantastic colour to add in one’s palette to add a little quirky pop into the whole wedding scheme – in stationery and table decor especially. Use tropical flowers, or ranunculus, roses, gerber daisies or orange berries to add that lovely pop into flower bouquets and decorations. It can really make an impression paired with white, or it can be softened with pinks, corals and neutrals. Tone the orange down a bit, while at the same time adding contrast by adding slate grey into the mix. Or keep it fresh and summery with one of my favourite colour combinations: orange and aqua.

Neon has appeared on the catwalks for some months now, and is slowly seeping into weddings, too. With all things vintage still being fashionable, incorporating neon pink, yellow and green can give that little, fresh pop of colour. To avoid it becoming too glaring and tacky, I see it best incorporated as subtle touches in stationery and decor: as painted edges on wedding invitations or string wrapped around favours, softened with neutral colours and romantic fonts.

Letterpress is nothing new in the wedding blog world, but the scarce availability of good, old fashioned letterpress printers (and know-how) in Scandinavia has meant that in reality, very few brides have had the letterpress option without it being extremely costly. Luckily, letterpress printers seem to finally be dusted off and in use. Letterpress printing is still a relatively costly option – but the result is also unique and tactile.

We’re continuing our Wedding Trends 2012 compilation!  This time, it’s the veils’ turn…

Veils will be moving further and further towards the forehead and be wrapped tighter around the head, inspired by the french, 1920s bridal head adornments. These are in the shapes of juliet caps (with or without a long veil attached) and “pirate veils” – veils wrapped tightly around the head, like we saw in the beach shoot we featured a while ago.

We noticed lace caps springing up in 2011 and wrote about them back in March – since then, Kate Moss and Lily Allen both wore a Juliet cap at their weddings, and looked absolutely stunning. I’m confident that we will see even more brides with these lovely veils in 2012 – I really love the look!

Wedding dresses in 2012 will continue to follow the vintage trend which has been apparent for a number of seasons now. However, we will see a shift in the decades from which we derive our inspiration from. Instead of the 50s and 60s strutting tea length dresses, the tendency is to derive inspiration from the surrounding decades: The bohemian glam from the 1900s – 20s and the 70s.

This means blouson tops and slinkier shapes. Lace has been in fashion for some seasons now, and will still be everywhere… this time however more apparent on long sleeves, and on sheer, illusion necklines rather than overlays. Coloured, especially blush dresses are appearing more and more often, and glam details like jeweled belts will be popular accessories – replacing the coloured sashes. Finally, we will also be seeing a larger focus on the backs of the wedding dresses, either low, plunging backs or delightfully ornate on  illusion backs.

Other wedding trends that are mentioned around the web are corsets, disco glam (sequinned dresses) and high, frontal slits.

I hope you all had a great New Year’s Eve! It’s incredible to me, how fast time has passed. So many wonderful, exciting things have happened in 2011 to me, and I simply can’t wait to see what 2012 will bring!

To kick off 2012, I have a series of rather lovely pictures for you. Lan and Joakim, who met each other in high school, finally tied the knot after 7 years on a day in March 2011, and had a wedding which I think must be one of the most personal ones I have ever featured.

The wedding had elements of both Sweden and China, red being the dominant colour as it is the traditional wedding colour in China.

The couple were passionate about keeping the wedding as sustainable, organic and eco-friendly as possible. The food, the styling products and makeup was all organic. The dress made from silk with very little chemical impact and the suit made from organic cotton. The rings were chosen in titanium, due to the durability and hardness, as well as the minimal environmental impact. The location, Rosendals Trädgård, was chosen for its surrounding beauty, and the celebration held indoors in the large greenhouse at the venue. During the evening, 60 minutes were dedicated the Earth Hour.

I think you’ll love this wedding. Although it’s set in the summer, the bright red lips and shoes of the bride and the dark red, velvety roses make me think that the styling would be so great for a wedding around Christmas time. There were so many lovely pictures to choose from, so I apologize for the long post, especially if you’re at work… but please do yourself the favour of checking out the gallery with close to 300 pictures when you get the time! Do check back later on today too, as you’ll find the really awesome video from this wedding… But first, a couple of words from the photographers:

This couple got married in august on the west coast of Norway. They are both musicians and they wanted the images to give hints of a little rock and roll. They had chosen red as the theme color – which also underlined the tough style. The newlyweds were not afraid to pose in front of the camera. It really shows in the images, and the result is stylish and cool.

Thank you to this fantastic couple for allowing us to get a glimpse of your great day – and thanks to photographer Ruben Hestholm for sharing the pictures! Next up: the amazing video from the wedding…
