Those who have followed this blog for a while, already know that I have a soft spot for Amanda Thomsen. In the whole industry of wedding photography, her style is just so unique. It’s evident in her pictures that she is able to make even the shyest of couples relax and be themselves in front of the camera. And when they do this, the pictures become all the more a reflection of who they are as individuals – her pictures always make me want to get to know the people she photographs.

Dressing up tulle for winter

Category: Details, details, details   |   Author: Elizabeth   |   Leave a comment No colors

Simply love the ideas the girls at Dashing came up with for a winter shoot. A patterned, knit sweater in pastels and baby pink Doc Martens with a pretty bow. So simple, but sure to keep you warm!

Sponsor Spotlight: Eiras Blomma

If you’re into old fashioned, light and romantic details, I think you’ll love the pretty, pretty flowers made of lace, satin and pearls, for pinning in your hair or on your coat or wedding dress made by Eiras Blomma.

Magdalena named her little boutique after her grandmother, Eira, who was a seamstress in Gothenburg. There is something so lovely and vintage-inspired about the handmade hair flowers, reflecting a passion for fabrics, feminine forms and colours – just like Eira had.

You might recognise the flowers from this vintage candy inspired shoot which was featured on this blog last year. Magdalenas flowers are now available online on Eiras Blomma’s website, and the first collection is named after the lovely characters in A Room With a View. Do check out the pretty headpieces and brooches, there will most definitely be one that suits your dress :)

Lena ♥ Nils: Fresh and Fun Engagement Shoot

Category: Engagement, Photography   |   Author: Elizabeth   |   2 comments No colors

Photographed by Lena Britt Photography

I don’t feature many engagement shoots on this blog, but this one is so fun and in style with what this blog is about that I couldn’t resist! I love the colours, the imagery, the fun and the quirkiness which these pictures exude. Oh, and the couple took the pictures themselves!

Lena, who submitted the pictures explains:

“My name is Lena and I am an American girl filled with Scandinavian heritage. I am currently living in Stockholm and run my own little photography business. My work as a whole is inspired by Scandinavian culture and lifestyle. The shoot I am sending you is actually a self-shot, self-edited shoot I did with my fiance. His name is Nils and he is Norwegian. We feel the pictures really represent us as a couple and would love to share them! I know engagement shoots are maybe more up and coming these days in Europe however, I thought they might be inspirational to some who might want to do that, let alone do it themselves. It is possible. :) “

Indeed, it *is* possible :) Thank you Lena – you guys are gorgeous!

Sponsor Spotlight: Camilla Jørvad Photography

Have you said hello to my lovely new sponsors yet? They are right over there, in the column to the right – do go and visit them and check out their beautiful work and be inspired! :)

I’m so pleased to introduce to you one of my new January sponsors – Photographer Camilla Jørvad. I’m so inspired by her pursuit in not only creating beautiful wedding imagery, but also in being a green photographer. Based on the beautiful island of Ærø and living on a hobby farm, Camilla thinks of the environment in every aspect she can of her business: Communication is kept online, and all products – high end albums, prints and CD covers are made of eco-friendly materials and inks, and the business cards and high end prints are printed by a company who themselves use environmentally friendly products. She will also be cooperating with the ‘Plant et træ‘ (plant a tree) organisation, to which a percentage of her photography fee will be donated.

Camilla describes herself in the following way:

I LOVE photographing weddings. It allows me to explore all aspects of photography while enjoying the company of happy couples in love. On any given wedding day I am both a creative portrait photographer, an unobtrusive photo-journalist, a food and still life photographer,
a fashion photographer, and a nature photographer. But above all I approach every wedding as an artist and a story-teller.

I want to evoke emotion, tell your story, and create beautiful images. Esthetically I am greatly inspired by film photography masters like Elizabeth Messina and Jose Villa. I strive to create images of contemporary romance and nordic simplicity with a touch of femininity.
I want every moment with me to be a good experience for the couple and I love to make a bride feel beautiful.

I want to create a quality product for my clients. Quality requires time and care and I take my job, but not myself very seriously. I enjoy working with couples who value photography, understand the memories I can create for them, and trust me implicitly to tell their
wedding day story, from the grandest perspective to the smallest detail.

Random facts:
♥ I am 28 years old
♥ I am happily married, with two kids
♥ I love to cook
♥ I love the smell of lavender and all things vintage
♥ I am a self-taught photographer
♥ This is my fourth year in business and I have worked with more than 50 couples on their wedding day
♥ I live on the tiny Danish island Aeroe, but have worked with couples from all around the world and will
gladly travel for destination weddings :)

I can’t wait to hear about your special day and how I can be involved :)

Sounds good, right? Do check out more of her work, much of it in the beautiful surroundings of Ærø on her webite.
